She has worked with formerly incarcerated individuals and has seen the positive impact of education on their lives. Tatev hopes that her findings will shift the way we provide education to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals to be more accessible.
While on track to graduate in Spring of 2026 with her Ph.D. in Special Education from UCLA/CSULA, Tatev (like all other Ph.D. students) embraces the challenge of balancing the academic and social world. Being a Ph.D. student involves the true dedication to research and academia, however, it's important to not lose sight of yourself, your mental health, and your social circles to really enjoy the journey. Tatev's current research focuses on the higher educational experiences of formerly incarcerated individuals. She is particularly interested in how colleges and universities can better support this population of students.
